The Story of Querencia
Querencia is a contemporary textile studio where handmade Guatemalan rugs come to life, with custom creations at the heart of what we do. Each piece becomes part of the story we tell, and in turn, we become part of yours. In collaboration with skilled artisans; Marco and Selvin Vicente, we blend modern twists with rich traditions, preserving time-honored techniques that are at risk of being lost. Today, it stands as a testament to the beauty of slow living and the stories that connect us all.
Woven Heritage
At Querencia, we collaborate with artisans from Guatemala, each bringing their knowledge, skill, and traditions to life. While our work is rooted in textiles, it extends into other handmade processes that honor the richness of craft and cultural heritage.
In Momostenango, weaving is not a trend it is a way of life. Many artisans learn the loom from a young age, guided by parents and grandparents. The rhythm of hands and feet moving together carries knowledge that lives beyond words, passed down through generations.
By working closely with artisan families, we aim to support this living tradition not as something fixed, but as a practice that continues to evolve through contemporary design.

We work with natural fibers and small-batch production, creating pieces only when they are needed. By operating on a made-to-order model, we avoid overproduction and reduce waste.
